Privacy Policy

Messages++ by Comeriver (“Messages++”, “the app”) is provided by Comeriver Limited (“we”). The app is a messaging app for your phone: it shows your text conversations, and lets you send your own messages, by text from your SIM or by email, to contacts you choose. This policy explains what the app does with information. In short: your contacts and messages stay on your phone. We do not collect, receive, store or sell any of your data. Emails you send go only to the email service you choose.

Information the app uses

• Your text messages — when the app is your default messaging app, it reads, shows and saves your SMS conversations in your phone’s own message store, like any messaging app.
• Contacts — if you choose “Use phone contacts”, the app keeps a copy of your phone’s contacts (names, phone numbers, email addresses, birthdays and other dates, company, job title, address and notes) in its private storage so you can message and group them. It also keeps contacts you add by hand or import from a file.
• Campaigns — the messages you write, the groups you send to, schedules, and the status of each message (for example sent, delivered or failed).
• Settings — such as send limits, your default country and your email settings (including an email service API key, if you enter one).

All of this is stored only on your device. The app has no account, no server, no analytics, no advertising and no crash-reporting service, so none of this information is sent to us.

Sending messages

Texts: the message and the recipients’ phone numbers go through your phone’s SMS system and your mobile carrier, the same as any text you send. Your carrier’s terms and charges apply.

Emails (only if you turn email on): each email’s recipient name and address, subject and text are sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to the email service you set up — a Mailgun-compatible service using your own account, or your Gmail account — which delivers it. That service’s own privacy policy applies to the emails. The app sends nothing else to it.

Gmail: if you connect Gmail, the app asks Google only for permission to send email on your behalf (gmail.send). It cannot read, delete or manage your mail. Its use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can disconnect in Settings › Email or at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Comeriver Pro subscriptions

If you subscribe to Comeriver Pro, payment is handled entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store under their terms and privacy policies. We don’t receive your payment details. The app asks the store whether your subscription is active and keeps only that answer (and when it was checked) on your phone.

On the free app, campaign texts and emails end with the line “Sent via messages.comeriver.com”. You see it in the preview before sending; Pro lets you change or remove it.

Permissions

• SMS (send, receive, read and write SMS; receive MMS and WAP push) — used only while the app is your default messaging app: to show, receive, notify about, store and send your texts.
• Phone state (optional) — to let you choose which SIM to send from on dual-SIM phones. The app does not read your phone number.
• Contacts (optional) — read-only, after you tap “Use phone contacts”. Nothing is uploaded. Changes are made in your phone’s Contacts app.
• Internet — only to send the emails you ask it to send.
• Notifications — new texts, sending progress, results and reminders.
• Alarms & reminders and battery settings (Android) — to start your scheduled campaigns at the time you chose.

Your control and deletion

You can delete conversations, contacts, groups and campaigns in the app at any time, turn off contact sync, and disconnect email. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in your phone’s settings, permanently deletes the app’s own data (texts stay in your phone’s message store for your next messaging app). Because we never receive your data, we hold nothing about you to delete. Emails already sent are held by your email service.

Your responsibilities

Only send messages to people who have agreed to receive them, and follow the laws on marketing messages in your country. The app helps by excluding contacts you mark as opted out or add to the suppression list, and by adding an unsubscribe line to emails.

Children

The app is intended for adults and organisations and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date.
